Cappadocia Green Tour Itinerary and Tickets

The Green Tour heads south to the underground cities and the dramatic Ihlara Valley hike. It covers more ground than the Red Tour, so expect a longer, more active day.

What the Green Tour covers

This is the big-landscape day, with longer drives between blockbuster sights. The highlight for many is the Ihlara Valley walk, a flat riverside trail past cliff-carved churches.

  • Derinkuyu (or Kaymakli) underground city — multi-level subterranean tunnels.
  • Ihlara Valley — a ~3–4 km guided walk along the river canyon.
  • Selime Monastery — a vast cliff-carved cathedral complex.
  • A panoramic stop over the Goreme valley, and often Pigeon Valley in Uchisar.

How active is it?

The Green Tour involves more walking than the Red Tour, including the Ihlara Valley trail and a steep climb at Selime Monastery. It's manageable for most reasonably fit travelers but worth knowing if you have mobility concerns.

  • Ihlara Valley: mostly flat, ~3–4 km, with around 300 steps down at the entrance.
  • Selime Monastery: uneven rock paths and a moderate scramble in places.
  • Underground city: narrow, low passages — skip if strongly claustrophobic.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Green Tour too much walking?
It's moderately active — the Ihlara Valley trail is flat but a few kilometres long, and Selime Monastery has a short climb. Most travelers manage it comfortably in good shoes.
Can I do the Red and Green Tours on the same day?
No — each is a full day. Do them on consecutive days, with the Red Tour first as the lighter introduction.
